Ode to a New Blog

Here it is.  A brand new blog!  Not sure if it will last, but my lovely husband did me the honour of getting me my own domain, so I should make an effort.

It’s a new life!  I am a graduate, a wife, an assistant manager at Starbucks.  It’s a good time.  I was going to be taking my Masters at St. Stephen’s University in Worship Studies and Spiritual Formation, and decided that it would be best to postpone that for the time being.  As if I didn’t have enough on my plate already.

This coming week I’m going to be working at the Starbucks in Fredericton, filling in for the manager there.  Should be an adventure!  Shawn will be in Ontario and I will be in Fredericton.  Better both of us on the road than one of us stuck at home alone.  Just saying.

We just had our second open mic night at Starbucks East Point last Saturday.  It went very well in my opinion.  A sweet band called Jam, Spots and Hospitals played.  I quite enjoyed it.  Also got a couple of our regulars up there showing us their talent.  And of course I played a couple of songs.

In the midst of writing a new one by the way….pretty different from the rest of my stuff.  We’ll see how it turns out.  I’d like to bring my guitar with me next week, but I have the feeling that I’ll have to stash my stuff at the kiosk before I get to check into the hotel.  So we’ll see how that goes.

I am taking advantage of no longer having a reading list and have decided to have a year of classics.  I’ve just started reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.  So far, I haven’t a clue what’s going on, but I hear it gets better after the first couple chapters, so I will go on.

I must say this is one random post, but it’s been quite a while, so it will take me a bit to get back into the swing of things.  I’ll try my best to make things interesting.

Tonight’s Playlist:
Turnip Farm by Dinosaur Jr.
World Go ‘Round by No Doubt
Spotlight by MuteMath
Old Man by Neil Young
Falling for the First Time by The Barenaked Ladies

Good to hear whats going on! Glad to hear the open mic is going well.. our starbucks sucks, and doesnt do anything like that.. Our local starbucks wanna be (called Amazing Coffee.. its a decent place) use to do open mics, but the guy who did them moved away, so, I don’t know if they will be happening anymore..

So you ever gonna put out a CD with all these tunes your writing? even just self selling/publishing them, you could easily make a good chunk of change.. sell em at the starbucks!! and carry them with you to open mics and such!!

Good luck next week in Freddy.. i’ll look after your hubby
